Song of the Day: Lee Cabrera - Move a little closer

I think I'm really starting to love this city.

Last night I met Sharon in our usual location in Leicester Square for a night out. Turns out the Lord of The Rings premiere was on last night, and 10,000 screaming people were in the square. Fucking amazing. Happen in Adelaide? no chance. The atmosphere was electric, it wasn't cold and it was the best place in the world to be. *sigh* London. Some days I love ya.

It's starting to get real cold here. My housemate Michael went to the England rugby team victory parade last Monday, along with almost everyone else in London who could blag the day off. By midday it was a balmy 2 degrees, but with 100,000 people there I'm sure it would have been warm! Most days I wear about 2 jumpers and a coat, sometimes with a thermal t shirt as well. I've invested in the cutest lambswool hat (although I am not a hat person) which looks adorable. Everyone walks around with pink cheeks from the cold, and my skin has totally taken to being blasted with sub-arctic wind. It's boots, scarves, mittens and long trenchcoats all the way, and I couldn't be happier!

Christmas away from the fam was always going to be hard, so instead of sitting on my butt at home I'm joining a tour group to Wales. It looks like its going to be bloody cold and a shedload of fun and I'm really looking forward to it.

Continuining the travel theme RyanAir (I love you guys!) were having a 1p sale yesterday and I managed to blag a ticket to Barcelona for less than 20 quid return. Yay me! Have booked hostel, and altogether 2 nights is costing me less than 50 quid. Where else but London can you get deals like this? Am slightly worried about going on my own.. but bugger it, I'm a global adventurer... or one in training, anyway.

This city has a strange affect on people. Here I do things I would never do at home, wear clothes I would never wear, drink more than I ever would, dance like a fiend (and get antsy when Saturday nights roll around) and never, ever be in before midnight on the weekend. Sleep has taken a serious backburner and life has taken over. I feel like I'm constantly smiling and the world is good, even if it does rain sometimes (although not much which is apparently unusual) and things are expensive and its dog-eat-dog. London is an anonymous place.. kind of like a hedonistic playground where you work hard and play hard. And I love every minute of it... if I was looking to find myself here, I found me.
